We work closely with the TV and movie industry to make sure you’re developing the right skills and making the right connections. You’ll be using professional-grade facilities, including purpose-built workshops, a special effects make up room, a fabrication lab, a mould shop, a machine shop, a photography studio and computer suites with industry-standard hardware and software.
As well as guest speakers and industry panels, we have modules taught by industry luminaries, allowing you to work directly with a practitioner at the top of their field. You’ll work on live projects and have the chance to go on trips to Special Effects studios and industry events. Our commitment to real-world experience means that many of our students secure their first jobs before they even graduate.
Teaching Intensive, Research Informed
Your education at the University of Bolton is ‘Teaching Intensive, Research Informed’. Our approach to teaching is led by research and also the needs of the industry. You’ll learn the ‘real-life workflow’ and multidisciplinary teamwork you’ll be using once you’re working in the film and TV industry. The distinctive blend of modules within the Special and Visual Effects courses allow you to explore which aspect of this exciting area you would like to work in upon graduation.
