Welcome to Sport, Sport Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy

Looking to build a career in physiotherapy or sports? Then the sports, sport rehabilitation and physiotherapy courses at the University of Bolton can provide an ideal gateway into one of these exciting careers. Our courses are based in our Bolton One facility, the University of Bolton’s £31 million sport, leisure, health and research centre.

As a sports student, you will have world-class placement opportunities with professional sports teams and athletes (in our Athlete Development Centre), at clinics and in specialist rehabilitation centres across the country. You could be working with professionals, the Ministry of Defence, or members of the public. Our physiotherapy students will have clinical placements in the NHS, private clinics and the voluntary sector.

Testimonials

Ryan Carty

Sport | 2018

"During my four years at The University of Bolton, my lecturers have always provided support where needed, whether it be related to academic studies or something outside of university that may have been causing me difficulty. This can be beneficial in many ways and I feel this is something that is unique to the University of Bolton. This approach makes you feel like you matter to your lecturers as opposed to just being another number or name on the register. Further to this, gaining knowledge and experience alongside your degree is crucial in sport and that is something there is a lot of opportunity for here. Also, studying in the same facility that professional athletes have tested presents the opportunity to use industry-standard facilities during practical lectures and observe/volunteer with testing on professional athletes. This is a real eye-opener for what working in the world of sport can be like."

"Having an internship at the University of Bolton within the SSIC gave me the opportunity to treat my own patients. This required me to put learnt knowledge into practice and significantly enhanced my confidence which has been a huge factor in my process towards my current job role at Bolton Wanderers FC"
