The Institute of Management Greater Manchester supports students from all backgrounds to stretch and challenge themselves to their full potential. We provide the latest theory and practice in Business and Accounting, and our students leave with professionally recognised qualifications, skills and the confidence to build rewarding careers.
Our Business Advisory Board has helped us shape our programmes, which combine theory and practice, with high quality teaching, informed by contemporary research. Students benefit from small group sizes with lecturers coming from industry backgrounds with extensive industry contacts, helping individuals understand current business practice.
Professional practitioners help provide specialist lectures, visits, workshops, conferences and internships, so that students develop their ‘hands-on’ experience of business and develop impressive employability portfolios. We enjoy close links with the main professional bodies including accounting, HRM, marketing, supply chain management, retail and general management, and offer significant professional body exemptions and dual award status on our undergraduate degrees.
Industry Links & Partnerships
Institute of Management Greater Manchester programmes help small and medium-sized businesses across the North West of England and beyond to seize opportunities to extend their markets, embrace new technologies and improve their performance.
The university’s business contacts regularly support the curriculum via guest lectures, offering work experience and appearing at the annual TIRI employability conference.
The university has a dedicated Business Advisory Board consisting of senior executives from industry and practice in the region. This strategic partnership underpins the Institute of Management Greater Manchester’s key mission and vision by linking research informed teaching with real world business problems and innovative solutions.
We specialise in courses that are tailored to meet employers’ needs. Many courses are accredited or endorsed by key professional bodies regulating the accountancy, supply chain management and logistics industries.
We also work with professional institutions that don’t accredit courses, but do offer membership to appropriately qualified individuals. We work hard to ensure our courses meet the academic requirements specified by these bodies, so that our graduates are well-placed to apply for membership once they meet the experiential requirements of these professional bodies.

“I believe that without the University of Bolton I would not be where I am today. It supplied me with the knowledge that I could apply to my current graduate trainee role towards becoming a Chartered Accountancy.”
Programme Manager Trescal Limited
“I studied Bolton’s Executive MBA and found lecturer support was always available, be that via phone in person or e-mail. This support was supplemented by an abundance of electronic resources available on all the subject areas covered and electronic access to numerous academic databases and libraries. I found great satisfaction in working hard to successfully achieve a MBA which has and will be a help throughout my career.”
