Always dreamed of turning your love of writing into a professional career?
Our unique joint degree in English and Creative Writing allows you to deepen your intellectual knowledge of literature and further enhance your understanding and mastery of the English Language. Students at the University of Bolton are the number one priority, benefiting from their wealth of experience and expertise on this engaging topic. We pride ourselves on our student to staff ratio, leading the department of English to be voted number one for student satisfaction in 2017, and receiving a student grading of 100% for satisfaction in the national student survey for two years in a row.
We offer intensive one-to-one feedback sessions from published writers and professionals who understand the intricacies of producing and working with literature.
We understand that it’s important to stay current whilst understanding the context of where current writing styles stem from, which is why we invite regular guest speakers from the publishing, production and directorial industries. We also provide publishing experience, encouraging students to submit work to our in-house literary magazine, The Bolton Review.
University of Bolton students studying English and Creative Writing are offered the chance to push their work beyond the printed word and make use of our strong links with Bolton’s Octagon Theatre, where they receive both workshop and behind-the-scenes access and experience.
