Conversion courses are a great stepping stone for graduates who are looking to transfer their skills into a different subject area or enhance their job prospects. The MSc Psychology Conversion course at the University of Bolton is a highly regarded upskilling platform, not only for students interested in psychology, but for those wanting to work towards their professional recognition with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
There are quite a few people who could be suited to this one year master’s programme. Here are some of the Postgraduate students who should consider enrolling:
Science graduates who want to pursue a career in psychology
Some psychologists and psychological therapists do not start their path in higher education with psychology training. If you have an Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, such as science or social science, our course is ideal for converting your skills into this focused area. Normally, we accept students with an Upper Second Class Honours degree (2.1) or higher.
If you don’t meet the entry requirements, you may still be able to apply, as long as you can provide us with alternative evidence of your capacity to succeed in on this programme.
Psychology students without Graduate Basis for Chartership eligibility
If your psychology degree didn’t come with eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society, a conversion course can put you on the right path to getting accreditation. This opens up doors to careers in educational, occupational or clinical psychology, boosting your employability and earning potential. Plus, having a BPS-accredited award will give you access to one of the largest networks of psychologists in the country, helping you stay connected in your field.
Working professionals who want professional recognition
In addition to Postgraduates, our course leaders will also consider applications from people with the right job experience. If you have appropriate work experience that can be demonstrated in lieu of the published academic qualifications, and would like to begin a career in psychology, it’s still worth getting in touch. Your application will be reviewed in line with the University’s Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) procedures.
To find out more about entry requirements, visit the MSc Psychology Conversion course page. At the University of Bolton, we provide a supportive and friendly environment to help students reach their potential. Not only are we highly inclusive and student-focused, but we’ll support you on your chosen career path, with a dedicated Employability Team to help you upon graduation.
