Explore the Power of Teaching - BA (Hons) Education and Learning

Have you ever wondered how we learn? How we can best inspire and engage with the next generation in an inclusive and equal way? Then you’re the perfect person to join our BA (Hons) Education and Learning degree.

What you will be studying

This course is all about understanding the fundamental principles and issues within education, at a community, national and global level.

During your studies, you will reflect on current policy, the history of teaching and education, as well as aspects of sociology and psychology that play an important role in education. Your lecturers will encourage critical thinking and discussions around diversity, helping you to approach problems in new and groundbreaking ways.

We utilise small class sizes to improve teaching quality and learning opportunities, whilst making sure every student undertakes at least one industry placement. This means you will get real-world experience of teaching and education, observing and interacting with staff and students alike.

You may wish to go into teaching, education administration or community-based education and all the skills you learn on this course, feed into these opportunities.

The University of Bolton

You will be studying your BA (Hons) Education and Learning degree at a university that was voted in the Top 5 for Teaching Quality in the UK (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020).

To support our students, we offer a range of bursaries and scholarships including a £1,000 bursary for those who have at least 128 UCAS points. To see the full list of financial support that we offer, please visit here.

This commitment to teaching quality and student satisfaction will never stop and we continue to invest in our small, friendly campus, located only a short 20-minute drive from Manchester. Every student matters to us and we will work together to help you graduate with the best possible results and start your dream career.

Future opportunities

When you graduate, you will have developed the underlying skills needed to progress in the education industry. Furthermore, part of your studies will have focused on specific areas, such as education policy or equality and diversity in teaching.

All of this means you will be well placed to apply for roles with children and young people, government and non-profit organisations and private education companies. As we move into a period of uncertainty and job market challenges, your skills will be much sought after by companies wishing to train and develop their staff.

A common route for our graduates is progression onto a PGCE or other teaching qualification that allows them to achieve Qualified Teaching Status (QTS).
