We offer a range of courses across all levels from pre-degree to postgraduate research. For further information on a courses specific entry requirements, please visit the relevant course’s webpage using the below course finder.
For our undergraduate programmes, entry requirements will usually be based on UCAS Tariff points. UCAS Tariff points are allocated to Level 3 qualifications generally studied between the ages of 16 and 18. We use the UCAS Tariff as a guide only, and not all qualifications are included on the Tariff (especially international). Don’t worry if you cannot find your qualifications on the Tariff – this doesn’t mean you won’t be accepted! For more information on the UCAS Tariff please click here.
The University of Bolton recruits students from across the globe, and entry requirements differ depending on where you have previously studied. For further information please see our International pages.
We consider applicants from all academic and professional backgrounds, and as such we operate a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy which can be found in our Student Policy Zone. This allows applicants to be accepted onto courses for which they would not normally demonstrate the normal entry requirements. We would actively encourage discussing this route with the Programme Leader which can be found on your chosen course’s page. Alternatively, attend one of our Open Days where someone from the School will be able to discuss your options with you.
As part of our RPL policy, we can also consider applicants for advanced entry onto courses. If you have studied elsewhere and hold credits of a suitable level and subject area, you may be given exemptions from specific modules or even be able to join an advanced year of the course. Again, we would encourage discussing this with the Programme Leader before applying.
