Are you looking for a flexible route into law? The University of Bolton’s LLM International Business Law programme welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds!
A business law master’s is a highly-regarded and flexible course for graduates who wish to develop advanced knowledge of international trade and business from a legal perspective.
Although it’s not a qualifying law degree (QLD), it can be a stepping stone onto further education in this subject, as well as other fields. Whether you’re looking to progress in your current job, upskill to attract global corporations, or change career altogether, this programme could be for you.
Our LLM International Business Law programme welcomes graduates from both legal and non-legal backgrounds, providing versatile study options for anyone interested in the field of business law. Here’s everything you need to know:
This is a one year full-time course for graduates in law or other related subjects. This includes any comparable qualifications from overseas.
For students who don’t have a law degree, but have years of experience in business and managerial roles, it’s still possible to apply. You will need to include an overview of your managerial responsibilities in your application, as well as a letter of reference from your current or most recent employer.
All non-law applicants will be reviewed under Bolton University’s Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) procedures.
On our LLM International Business Law programme, students will acquire postgraduate-level specialist legal knowledge needed to advise businesses and organisations operating in global markets.
Here are some of the highlights:
Study under an expert faculty, including former and current practitioners and academics
Gain practical training in Bolton University’s dedicated courtroom, which is a cutting-edge learning environment (and also a venue for guest speakers)
Specialise in areas such as corporate and finance law, employment law, intellectual property law, European law, international law, and medical law
Develop skills in data collection, critical data analysis, creative thinking, formulating, and solving complex legal problems
What are the career opportunities?
While the LLM is not a qualifying law degree (QLD), it can help students gain entry into the Legal Practice Course (LPC) for becoming a solicitor, or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) for becoming a barrister.
This business law master’s can also be used to work towards a PHD, making it a versatile qualification that can help those returning to law after a break, or those looking to change their career.
LLM programmes aren’t just suited to students wishing to practice law either. These courses can be beneficial to a range of career paths within the corporate world, and can help you develop important transferable skills for the workplace.
Whatever your career ambitions, our dedicated Employability Team is on hand to support you. Additionally, professional development is something that is a core part of our curriculum, and you’ll get one-to-one mentorship from our course leaders to help you reach your potential.
We are proud to know our students by name, and not their student number. Our unique, student-first approach is what makes us one of the top UK universities for law courses, ranking No.2 in the UK (and No.1 in the North West) for Teaching Quality and Student Experience*
