#BoltonUni: No extra costs or additional fees

An important part of creating an inclusive, positive and supportive university experience is making sure that our courses are available to students no matter their backgrounds or disadvantages. 

Since 2016, the University of Bolton has provided a “No Hidden Extras” guarantee to students studying both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our promise to students is that they will face no added fees or costs that are mandatory for the completion of your course. 

What does the guarantee cover? 

The University of Bolton guarantees that we will cover the cost of the following for all eligible students: 

- Technical or laboratory materials needed to complete your course e.g., for art & design or creative technologies courses 
- All mandatory site visits or field trips 
- Any required safety equipment e.g., lab coats, goggles 
- Any specific uniform or clothing required by the course 
- Printing for academic studies – an allowance of £20 per academic year (equivalent to printing 500 black and white A4 sheets) 

Who is eligible? 

This promise covers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including those on an integrated master's course and those part-time students paying pro-rata fees. Students who are already fee exempt, such as incoming Erasmus students, and those studying Continuing Professional Development qualifications are not eligible.
