It's local to where I live and was offering the course and accepted me.
I chose the apprenticeship option as I felt it was my only way into nursing. To complete a full-time nursing degree would require me to leave full time work and in turn a full-time salary which was not feasible for me at the time. The apprenticeship has been really useful as it has allowed me to work full time and gain lots of knowledge and experience but also have the benefit from the theoretical aspect as well as the support from both my work colleagues and the staff at university. I feel it has also helped build my confidence within my role more than what a full-time degree may have done. I would definitely encourage people to do an apprenticeship as it really helps to prepare you for working life and helps put theory into practice. Being able to work and gain a qualification at the same time can also be beneficial for people.
