Our motorsport & automotive performance engineering degrees

We will teach you everything from aerodynamics to vehicle dynamics so that you can design better vehicles for racing or production use. It covers topics like powertrains and suspension systems – all essential skills when it comes to designing high-performance vehicles. And because we know your future employer may require you to be a member of organisations like the Institute of Automotive Engineers (IAE), we’ll make sure you receive all the training required to get there.

It’s a great foundation for the more specialised MSc on Motorsport Engineering where you build on your knowledge of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, rapid prototyping and CAD and CAM design skills.

State-of-the-art specialist facilities

The technical and theoretical studies involved in this program are completed at our £13 million state-of-the-art specialist workshops and laboratories at the UK’s only National Centre of Motorsport Engineering. As a student here, you’ll be able to use these specialist facilities throughout your studies. You will access industry-standard equipment and machines such as a 5 axis CNC milling machine, a 3.5ton horizontal mill, a vehicle crash test rig and data acquisition equipment for performance engineering.

Where can I work after graduating?

Motorsport and automotive performance engineers can find careers in sectors such as:

- motorsports teams

- automotive companies

- research and development divisions

- consultancy firms

Graduates may also go on to study for a higher degree such as an MSc in Motorsport Engineering.
