University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
Why choose the University of Bolton? We are a university who put our students needs first and offer a supportive and positive environment so you can achieve your chosen goals. We are all about small class sizes, courses designed in consultation with industry experts, continued multi-million-pound investment in our facilities and we focus on employability after training. We are Teaching Intensive, Research Informed.
Thanks to the living costs in Bolton being significantly lower than other major cities, our students can spend their money and time enjoying what the town has to offer. Alongside retail shops, bars, restaurants and the Octagon Theatre Bolton in town. students also have social opportunities on campus.
According to The Times & The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020, the University of Bolton is one of the most socially inclusive Universities in the country. You only have to take a look at all the clubs and society options to choose from to understand why.
Our investments in recent years have left our students with incredible facilities to help them in their studies, including:
But we also understand that you need time out from your studies. Whether it’s a quick study break to gather your thoughts or a day out enjoying your hobbies and interests.
The Bolton One building provides all the de-stressing activity facilities you need with a 25m swimming pool, 50m climbing wall, competition-level trampolines, large sports hall and fully equipped modern gym. Whether you wish to play sport competitively or just for fun, there are activities and classes for all students.
Not only that, but you can use our Athlete Development Centre which help all athletes to improve their performance as well as helping assist in recovery through the Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic.
Alternatively, if the great outdoors is more your thing, Bolton is surrounded by the beautiful Pennine Moors perfect for hiking, kayaking and horse riding.
But if you don’t have a couple of hours spare to get active or get outside, we also have the Athena Café to grab a quick coffee on campus ready to give you that boost that will help you through the rest of your revision session. You can also enjoy the bar-style menu at Vista Meet and Eat or sit down for a hot meal in the Eagle Restaurant.
The result of all these incredible facilities? We were voted in the Top 15 Universities for student experience from The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020.
In comparison to other Universities we are relatively small, and that’s exactly how we like it. It means our class sizes are smaller and all of our students benefit from more time with their tutors and lecturers.
It also means outside of the classroom you’ll find a familiar face, whether its bumping into the same person on your way to the library or sharing a bus ride with the same students each morning.
We also love to help our surrounding community off campus. Our Plogging society love a gentle jog around the local area whilst collecting litter to help clean up our town.
Whether you’re moving 10-minutes down the road or halfway across the world, we understand that coming to University can be scary for a lot of people.
But this is why we ensure from the moment you enrol, you are supported both on campus and remotely, to make sure the University of Bolton feels like your second home – a place you can feel welcome, relaxed and above all else, happy.
Our services include:
Bolton is in the heart of Greater Manchester and is one of the largest towns in England and has everything a student will need to complete their off-campus experience. The town offers a big shopping centre, multiple restaurants with lots of international cuisines, a cinema, bowling alley, and of course, plenty of traditional British pubs. But it also has ample history to explore, including the LE Mans Crescent Town Hall.
Not only that, but the town is only a 20-minute train journey away from the city of Manchester and also has a direct train link to Manchester Airport.
Bolton is the perfect location to have everything you need close by without all the overwhelming crowds of a city, what’s more, depending on your mode of transport, you can hop on a flight within an hour of leaving your home!
We have no doubt that you will thoroughly enjoy your time at the University of Bolton. Many of our students choose to continue living in the area after their studies.
