University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
The Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to full-time and part-time UK and EU Masters students, irrespective of their financial means, who progress to a University of Bolton Taught Masters Course. There will be a maximum of four awards made in the 2023/24 academic year and applications will be considered in strict date order of receipt.
Amount
£1,000 will be paid as a tuition fee waiver. Part time students will receive a pro-rata discount over the duration of the course.
Eligibility
In order to apply you will need to demonstrate that:
You have successfully been awarded a First-Class Honours degree from a UK or EU institution.
You must be studying a full-time 180 credit Masters (taught) MA or MSc course at University of Bolton, except for the following courses which are not eligible courses for this award:
MSc Physician Associate
All ITT/PGCE/Cert Ed courses
MA Social Work
MSc Physiotherapy
MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
MSc Clinical Practice
MBA Global Educational Leadership
You may be eligible to receive both the Masters Taught Excellence Scholarship and the Alumni Loyalty Discount.
You must not be in receipt of any other kind of sponsorship towards your tuition fees for example from an employer.
The course of study must have commenced in September 2023 or January 2024. Retrospective applications from students who have commenced in previous academic years will not be accepted.
Please note that even though you may fulfil the eligibility for the scholarship this does not guarantee you will receive one due to the restricted number of awards available.
Applying for the Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility for the award will be assessed at point of application by Admissions.
Notification of Award
You will be notified whether your application has been successful or not via your university email address.
The invoicing department will receive confirmation from Admissions that you are eligible and will adjust your invoice accordingly.
If you defer entry onto your course of study you will be assessed for eligibility again by Admissions before commencement of your studies.

Terms and conditions
Awards will not be paid to students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time ‘sandwich’ basis.
Students studying abroad also will not be eligible to receive this award.
Students studying a taught Masters at an off-campus location or partners are not eligible for this award.
Students who transfer from BEng to MEng will not be eligible to receive the Excellence Scholarship.
The Excellence Scholarship shall not be awarded to full or part-time students studying PhD or MPhil courses.
The Excellence Scholarship shall not be awarded for Research courses or Top-Up.
*The Excellence Scholarship will be paid for first Taught Masters courses only, not second or subsequent courses.
*Please note that meeting the essential criteria does not equate to an entitlement to a scholarship.
*Payments will be permanently terminated if the student withdraws, transfers to another institution, fails their programme of study, or interrupts or suspends their studies.
*Payments are subject to continuing and satisfactory attendance on the course.
*Payments of the award are made entirely at the discretion of the university.
