The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)

We want to make sure our postgraduate students have the best experience possible while studying at the University of Bolton. Providing feedback about your experience allows us to keep doing the things you love, and to improve areas you think could be better!

What is the PTES?

The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is organised by Advance HE and is a national survey for Master’s, PGCE, PGCert and PGDip students at University of Bolton. It gives you the opportunity to feedback on your taught experience, which can be used to enhance the postgraduate experience for future students.

The PTES focuses on your experience on your course and includes:

Teaching and Learning, including materials and support
Engagement, including encouraging class contributions and opportunities
Assessment and feedback, including marking criteria and feedback
Dissertation or Major Project, including supervisor support
Organisation and management, including effective communication and involvement in course decisions
Resources, including learning resources
Support, including health and wellbeing
Skills development, including independent learning, research skills and career skills
Overall satisfaction

Why should I take part?

Your feedback is used to enhance the Postgraduate Taught experience for future students. The results from the PTES are used both departmentally and institutionally, to identify areas for celebration and where more work needs to be done to improve the student experience. The results also help us compare how we are doing against other institutions.

Every student eligible to complete the PTES can collect a free hot drink from any on campus café. You can collect your voucher from the Student Centre. All vouchers are valid until the 17th June 2022.

How do I take part?

The survey is open week commencing 23rd May’ until the 17th June 2022. You will have until 23:59 on Friday 17th June 2022 to complete the survey. You will be emailed directly with the survey link, so please check your Bolton student email account.

Is it anonymous?

Your feedback is confidential to the research team and any reporting would be anonymous. Please make sure you do not identify yourself or any specific members of staff within your comments.
