After graduating with a first-class honours degree in English Literature from the Open University, I progressed into teaching via a PGCE in Lifelong Learning, with my first experience of teaching being in a college of further education in Dorset. I went on to achieve QTS via the Graduate Teacher Programme, followed by a Master's Degree in English literature, again from the Open University.
I progressed to a secondary teaching role where I had responsibility for raising attainment and managing progress in English and MFL for students in a comprehensive school in Kent. Whilst teaching at this school, I gained a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning (with distinction) from Canterbury Christchurch University, prompting a professional move into teacher training.
My family and I moved back to Lancashire, and I had four years at Bolton College as Curriculum Leader for Education and Teacher Training, Science and Humanities. I joined the education team at the University of Bolton in September 2017, with responsibility for secondary education programmes and teaching apprenticeships.
