University of Bolton shortlisted in final of UK and Ireland 2023 Green Gown Awards

The University of Bolton has been named as a finalist in the Student Engagement category of the 2023 Green Gown Awards UK & Ireland.

It is one of 102 finalists representing 65 institutions, showcasing the sector’s best sustainability initiatives and projects.

The University of Bolton's application centred on its strong student engagement through its Student Sustainability Panel.


Alison Robinson, Deputy Executive Chair & Director of Corporate Affairs for the Natural Environment Research Council, part of UKRI, said: “With another exceptional set of finalists announced I feel both humbled and proud to represent UKRI’s involvement in these awards.



“While the challenge ahead of us is daunting, the innovation, passion and belief across the research and innovation sector is inspiring and I look forward to following the progress of these projects as they help us reach our net zero target.”

In a space where greenwash and sustainability marketing has become prolific, the sector led, peer-reviewed structure of the Green Gown Awards ensures they’re meaningful, transparent, and authentic.
She added: “We know that the excitement and pride that comes from being a finalist is a great springboard for institutions to engage more people in their sustainability work. But the value of the Green Gown Awards is beyond the individual organisations that are nominated.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony which will take place in late November.

The awards are organised in association with UKRI (UK Research and Innovation).
