University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
02/10/2023
The Mayor of Greater Manchester answered the public’s questions during a Question Time session at the University of Bolton.
Andy Burnham was asked about a variety of topics at the event on Thursday 28 September, which was organised by the office of the Mayor.
Dr Greg Walker, the University’s Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic Strategy), welcomed guests to the University’s Deane Lecture Theatre from where the event was live streamed online.
Members of the public asked several questions about the new Bee Network of buses which was launched in Greater Manchester earlier this month. For the first time in almost 40 years, services, in new yellow-liveried electric buses, are under local control in Bolton, Wigan, and parts of Bury, Salford and Manchester.
Other topics covered included the homelessness, facilities for the disabled in regional entertainment venues, policing of public protests and a referendum on whether Bolton should remain in Greater Manchester and the Clean Air Zone.
The Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, Terry Woods, and Deputy Mayor Kate Green, who leads on policing and crime, also answered questions.
It was latest of a series of Question Time events organised by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) across the city region.
The event has been held quarterly across all districts across Greater Manchester since it was launched in 2017 and the combined authority has aimed to encourage as many people as possible to register and take part.
