University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
15/08/2023
Clearing is important for many reasons and you should see Clearing 2023 as an opportunity for you, not a negative. There are a lot of reasons why you might need Clearing. Maybe you’ve just not applied to university yet or haven’t accepted a place. Perhaps you are applying through UCAS after the 30th June or didn’t meet the conditions of your first offer so you’re looking at other options. Or maybe you are having second thoughts about your first choice and want to experience #UniAsItShouldBe at Bolton University. No matter why you’re taking part in Clearing 2023, we’re here to help.
Here are some unexpected opportunities that come as a result of the Clearing process:
Educational Paths
If you didn’t get your first choice, Clearing 2023 is a great way to explore other courses that might lead to the same path. For example, if you didn’t get the results to go into dentistry, you could register for a Dental Tech degree and then get a one-year upgrade to become a dentist. There’s usually another option if your initial route doesn’t pan out.
Flexibility
With Clearing, you have a minute to take a breath and reconsider your options. Maybe you’re not as excited about the offers you have, and you want to explore other universities. At Bolton, we offer a supportive and inclusive environment that makes us a great choice for your studies. Have a look at our Clearing page for more information about what’s on offer.
Growth
If you need to go through Clearing, you’re going to develop as a result. It can teach resilience, adaptability and problem-solving skills. This is because you’re navigating unexpected challenges and making careful decisions under pressure. If you need help, remember that we’re here. Email enquiries@bolton.ac.uk or call +44 1204 903142 to speak to a member of the team for support.
Networking
During the Clearing process, you can talk to advisors and students at different universities, go to several open days and connect with new peers, professors and professionals in your chosen field. And the amazing byproduct of this extra decision time is an expansion of your network beyond what you’d normally experience via traditional routes. Don’t forget to deepen those connections by adding them on LinkedIn or popping their details in your phone for the future. You never know when you might need them.
Certainty
Clearing can give you clarity if you are uncertain about your academic future due to various reasons, such as changing career goals or unforeseen life circumstances. Maybe you have a parent or sibling who has become ill or the cost-of-living crisis means it makes more sense to be closer to home. That’s really common and as a local institution, we’re here to help Greater Manchester navigate this tough economic period and come out on top!
We won’t abandon you right after Clearing 2023 closes either. We offer a whole range of student services from mental health support at our Life Lounge to financial advice around fees and funding. You’ll never be left without a helping hand.
