Why the University of Bolton Believes in Supportive Learning

You’ll often hear the phrase “inclusive and supportive learning environment” at Bolton University. It’s part of our #UniAsItShouldBe promise and a value we live daily. But sometimes, it can help to do a deep dive into the Bolton experience's core parts to help you understand how much support you’ll receive while you’re here. So today, we’ll break down where we excel at delivering a supportive learning experience for every student, earning us 1st for Student Satisfaction* for the past five years.

Clear onboarding

The supportive learning experience begins before you’re ever a student at Bolton. We know how confusing and stressful the university application process can be, so we have an expert team standing by to answer all your questions, especially if you’re coming through Clearing. We know sometimes you might not know what direction to go, so we’ve made an amazing quiz and helpful blogs to aid you in narrowing down your choices. And if you’re not sure where to live while you study, there are a bunch of resources here. No matter what questions you might have, you can always email enquiries@bolton.ac.uk or call +44 1204 903142 to speak to a member of the team. We’re always here to help!

Financial advice

We also know how challenging the current economic climate is for our students and how funding is a top consideration (second only to what courses we offer). So, we have a simple guide to fees and funding here with information on estimated living costs for 2022/23 and details on government funding, bursaries and scholarships in one easy-to-navigate resource. Plus, if you want to talk to someone, just drop into the Student Centre or Pop-Up Desk located in Chancellors Mall and talk to an advisor. Their hours are Monday 11:00 until 13:00 in the Student Centre, Wednesday 13:00 until 14:00 at Chancellors Mall and Friday 11:00 until 13:00, again in the Student Centre.

Mental & physical support

We also understand that going to uni is a time full of change and that can be overwhelming for anyone. So, we offer bespoke mental health support services from our Life Lounge as well. Pop in for mental health and wellbeing aid including Mental Health Advisors, Counsellors, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a multi-faith chaplaincy and Pets as Therapy programmes. We also offer a purpose-designed disability support service to empower our differently abled students to live the university experience on their terms. And we’re always talking to our students about what new services we should launch in the future.

Teaching quality

Lastly, a core part of our inclusive and supportive student experience is our incredible educational team. We’re 1st for Teaching Quality** and it shows through every interaction. At Bolton, you’re never going to be just a number. Our small class sizes and warm environment are welcoming and provide the perfect launching ground for any career. Even if you’re on a more non-traditional learning path, our teaching staff will work with you to help you achieve your career dreams; finding ways to challenge and inspire you every day.
