Want a career working and caring for children?

If you enjoy caring for children and young people, a nursing career as a Children's Nurse could be the perfect role for you. Also known as a paediatric nurse, this role allows you to be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of professional and medical staff which includes doctors, health visitors, healthcare assistants, hospital play staff, social workers and psychologists. There is a shortage of qualified nurses in the UK, so career opportunities are excellent.

A career in Nursing or Midwifery offers you the chance to make a difference, as well as a high degree of work flexibility and excellent employment prospects. You’ll spend your time caring for and interacting with young minds, looking after their physical and mental health and wellbeing, as well as stimulating their learning.

You could work in a special children’s hospital or hospice, on a children’s ward in a general hospital or, after further training, in paediatric intensive care. You could also work in the community, at a GP practise or at a child health clinic.
