University of Bolton business school professor wins top leadership accolade from Nigeria

A professor from the University of Bolton has spoken of his delight after receiving a top leadership honour from the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Professor Christian Harrison, from the University of Bolton’s Greater Manchester Business School (GMBS), has been presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the growth and development of engineering profession and practice in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers promotes the effective practice of mechanical engineering in Nigeria and helps to ensure it is embedded in government policy.

The award was made at the organisation’s annual conference in Nigeria in October, and Professor Harrison, who is Professor of Leadership and Enterprise at GMBS, formally received the certificate last week.

He said: “I am delighted to have receive this award. Being recognised by such a prestigious organisation is a huge honour.”

It was Professor Harrison’s second award in a matter of months. Last year he received the Award for Excellence from the New-Life Recovery Hub at the Annual Top Flyer Awards and Multi-cultural Night held in Glasgow. The New-Life Recovery Hub is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals from all walks of life who are battling addictions and traumatic experiences.
