Library and computing
The Library is open six days a week with late night and vacation opening times posted on the library notice boards and web pages. Full printing and photocopying facilities are available along with a range of self-service facilities. Staff on the information and library desk can assist with any enquiries.
In addition regional and national schemes allow University of Bolton students and staff to join other university libraries in the UK via the various access agreement schemes available.
Internet enabled PCs are available in the Library and the Design Studio and across campus. The ratio of workstations to students is one of the best in the UK. The University of Bolton is also one of the first universities in the country to offer an extended wireless campus. This means students have access to free WiFi internet access across the campus and – coming soon – in Bolton town centre. Students with wireless laptops and PDAs can connect to the internet from anywhere on campus, and hotspots are being installed in key locations in town in the near future. Students can also buy a laptop from the national laptop scheme, administered by Gtech and Dell, at substantial discounts.
Each room in the halls of residence has a network socket giving access to a permanent high speed network connection.
Room 365 is the university's 24/7 computer room. It is accessed by your student ID card.
More information about all university library and IT services can be found on the Library| web pages.
