What matters most to you in life? If we wanted to measure wellbeing - what things should we include?
These and other questions will form the focus of a stimulating public event which is being hosted by the Centre for Research for Health and Wellbeing at the Univesity of Bolton on Thursday 7th April at 4pm in the Deane lecture theatre.
The event will include a panel of experts who will make a pitch for the things they think play a role in wellbeing - and there will be lots of opportunity for the public to participate and join in the debate. The discussion and arguments will be fed back to the Office of National Statistics who have been asked by the government to devise a measure of national wellbeing.
So.... what are the ingredients for a happy and fulfilled life? Is Bolton (still) the happiest town in England - and how do we know? Will the creation of Bolton One improve our wellbeing? Come along and have your say - and also invite those friends and colleagues who enjoy similar interests and activities to join the debate.
Further details will be announced shortly - but if you would like to attend this event bookings are already open via the online booking form|. We have limited places available so book your place as soon as possible.
Confirmed Panel members are:
* Dr John Howarth - Expert on wellbeing
* Gillian Halliwell - Manager of £17m Big Lottery Wellbeing Projects
* Clive Parkinson - Director of the North West Arts & Health Network
* Reverend Canon Mike Williams - Spirituality and Wellbeing

Representing the Office of National Statistics at the event will be Stephen Hicks, Assistant Deputy Director of the Measuring National Wellbeing programme. Stephen has over ten years experience of working in government statistics covering a range of areas including analysis of the Labour Market, Employment Relations and Regional and Local statistics. His roles have included leading on various development projects to improve the quality of statistics as well as providing statistical advice to policy makers. He currently lives in Cardiff with his family but has previously spent 10 years living in South East London. Two of those years were spent administrating a large charity full-time. One of his passions is to make statistics relevant to all and to ebsure that they are presented and used in such a way that informs decision making.
