Annual Staff TIRI Showcase 2021

One year on: Lessons from teaching, learning and assessment towards a post pandemic environment

Event Date : 22/06/2021

Blended Learning - Differentiation – Inclusive Assessment – Student Success

The University of Bolton has strategically positioned itself as a Teaching Intensive Research Informed (TIRI) University. The fundamental principle of this approach is to provide high quality intensive teaching to our undergraduate and postgraduate students across the academic disciplines of the University. The intensive teaching is sustained by rigorous research that informs both the content and delivery of the curriculum. The TIRI approach places students at the centre of everything we do and develops distinctive academic strengths and competitive advantage in the sector.

The TIRI Showcase is for staff at the University and its collaborative partners who teach and support University of Bolton students. The TIRI agenda will underpin all sessions in the Showcase as well as providing the focus for the interdisciplinary tracks.

Would you like to present a Teaching and Learning idea, research paper, deliver a workshop or E-poster presentation on your own or with colleagues and/or your students?

We invite contributions from University of Bolton staff and our collaborative partners. We specifically welcome contributions relating to the following themes:

  • Blended Learning—Transitions moving forward
  • Differentiation
  • Inclusive Assessment
  • Student Success

Many topics fall within these four themes, for example: personal/academic tutoring; managing student transition; student progression; improving student retention; meeting students' needs; inclusive teaching, learning, assessment and feedback; student-centred pedagogy; digital literacy; technology for learning; employability and enterprise; academic support for students; work-based learning; student motivations; emotional factors; course design; rigour and stretch; transferable skills; peer support for students; personalised learning; student diagnostics/skills audits; student learning development; and innovative teaching and learning/research methods.
