A total of 34,705 respondents took part in the annual survey, co-ordinated by Advance HE (previously the Higher Education Academy). 38 universities including the University of Bolton were ranked on engagement, skills and time spent on activities.

Sports Science at Bolton was a particular highlight, coming top out of 16 universities across the Aggregate, Assessment & Feedback and Employability measures. We were awarded 8th place overall for Employability.

Other science-based disciplines ranked highly in the Assessment & Feedback measure, including Nursing and Psychology which topped the group of 19 and 27 competitor universities respectively. The University of Bolton came 2nd overall in this measure.

Aggregating a total score of 65% in the UK Engagement Survey, 0.2% higher than the MillionPlus group benchmark, the University of Bolton continues to exceed standards and expectations. MillionPlus is the Association for Modern Universities, promoting high quality academic research and excellent teaching standards across higher education institutions.

These positive statistics reinforce the fantastic results of the National Student Survey 2018, which saw the university named number one in the UK for student satisfaction in Social Work and Subjects Allied to Medicine, along with coming top in Greater Manchester across 12 subject areas including Accounting, English and Law.

With impressive figures like this proving that the University of Bolton is a strong contender when it comes to competitive university rankings, we look forward to further improvement and continuing to provide students with a positive learning experience in the coming year.
