Top Arts Management Trends for 2023

Unless you live under a rock, trends are here to stay. They shape every aspect of life; depending on your reaction, you will either succeed or fall by the wayside. This blog assesses the top arts management trends for 2023 and why an MA Arts Management degree is great preparation.

The Rise of Digital Art

What do ‘Pak’s The Merge’ and ‘Every Days: The First 5000 Days’ have in common? They are digital art pieces sold for a combined value of £133.64 million. The digital art world is evolving, and artists are making huge amounts from their beloved creations. New and affordable technology allows artists to control their careers and work environment. This trend will likely continue as artists become more independent and want to control their destinies.

Digital art

Course modules like the arts and cultural landscape and arts management structure help you develop the necessary skills to adapt to this new trend. Our industry-engaged staff will support you in developing and leading arts and cultural projects, giving you the knowledge you require to succeed in your field.

The Rise of Social Entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneurship is when you develop and fund solutions that directly address societal issues. Art is the best way to create awareness and initiate change at a global level. With global warming, sustainable engineering and diversity being hot topics, you will see more creators producing artwork targeting these themes.

Bolton University’s MA in Arts Management teaches you the latest forms of community engagement, enabling you to create work with a greater impact. The programme gives you the opportunity to partner on live projects with cultural and arts organisations across Greater Manchester and the North West region.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Creative Process

Most creative programmes have AI in their programming. For example, software like Adobe After Effects enables you to mimic a creator’s mind and produce a continuous stream of unique designs. Several museums and galleries also use the technology to conserve their collections by regenerating near-identical copies of ancient pieces.

Facilities like our Innovation Factory have industry-standard equipment to help you create at your full potential. They include a 3D workshop for ceramics, glass, and casting jobs; a 2D workshop for print-making processes; and wood and metal workshops.

Virtual and Augmented Reality Integration

Virtual reality art allows you to interact with artworks through special devices such

as your smartphone or virtual reality headset. Several art galleries and museums use virtual reality technology to increase their global reach. The Louvre, The Uffizi Gallery and The British Museum provide virtual reality tours of their exhibits, which you can access from the comfort of your living room.

Digital and contemporary art

Augmented reality art involves using specialist software to superimpose images, sounds or text to your immediate environment. Then, you can view the creations via an app on your smartphone or tablet. The technology allows artists an infinite number of creative spaces for their creations. For example, REVIVRE, an augmented reality project by the Museum National D’Histoire Naturelle in Paris lets visitors interact with digital versions of extinct animals.
