Our innovative Theatre course combines academic study with a deep insight into professional theatre practice. It’s delivered in partnership with the Octagon Theatre Bolton, one of the country’s leading regional theatres.
Our Professor of Theatre, David Thacker, is an Olivier Award winning director and Associate Artistic Director at the Octagon Theatre Bolton. Prof. David Thacker supports our lecturers and programme leaders in providing a course which combines a rich variety of practical learning activities (including acting, directing and rehearsing) with core critical and analytical modules. The programme also provides you with an introduction to all aspects of performance and direction, participatory theatre, technical theatre and design and historical and contemporary theatre practice.
Our Performing Arts (Top-up) is a well-established and successful course that allows students with HND or foundation degrees in Performing Arts or related disciplines the opportunity to obtain an honours degree in this subject.
The top-up offers students the opportunity to undertake placements, develop professional and practical skills, and gain an understanding of the work of the creative industries.
