Applying to the university is easy, but there are several different application methods depending on what type of course you wish to apply for.
Full-time, Undergraduate home (UK) applicant
Please apply through UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) for September entry.

You can apply for up to five courses through UCAS (at the same or different institutions) for a fee of £24. Alternatively, if you only wish to apply for a single course at a single institution then a reduced applicant’s fee of £13 is applicable. For late applications sent after 30 June, the is fee is £24.

Pre-degree and all part-time, postgraduate and professional development applicants
Applications for the following types of courses are made directly to the university. Please select the type of course below for further information on how to apply:
- Pre-degree and further education courses (e.g. access courses , polymaths)
Applications for access courses are completed using the university’s Online Application Form. To apply, find your course using the course search function from the university home page, select the ‘How to Apply’ tab and follow the instructions.
- Undergraduate courses (Part-time and January entry excluding Adult Nursing)
Applications for part-time undergraduate courses and courses not starting in September are completed using the university’s Online Application Form. To apply, find your course using the course search function from the university home page, select the ‘How to Apply’ tab and follow the instructions.
- Teacher training courses (e.g. CertEd & PGCE)
Applications for the Certificate in Education (CertEd 14+) and the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and other teacher training courses are completed using the university’s Online Application Form. To apply, find your course using the course search function from the university home page, select the ‘How to Apply’ tab and follow the instructions.
- Postgraduate taught courses (MA/MSc/MBA/PgDip/PGCert)
Applications for all Postgraduate Taught courses are completed using the university’s Online Application Form. To apply, find your course using the course search function from the University home page, select the ‘How to Apply’ tab and follow the instructions.
- Postgraduate research programmes (MPhil/ PhD/EdD)

- Professional development courses
Applications for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Health and Social Care should be made through CPD Apply. For further information and specific application details please visit the Health and Social Care website.
Application methods can vary for different continuing professional development courses, so please follow the instructions under the ‘how to apply’ tab on the course page.
Can I get the application form in a different format?
The application form is available in alternative formats for applicants who require them for medical reasons. A relevent version of the application form will then be sent to you. Please return your completed application form to Marketing & Admissions at the address shown below. In order to process you application as quickly as possible please ensure that all required sections are completed and requested documents (qualifications, references, immigration documents) are enclosed or attached.
