Student Liaison Officers (SLOs)

The University employs three Student Liaison Officers (SLOs). Student Liaison Officers can provide academic and pastoral information, advice and guidance on a range of subjects as identified below:

Academic (One-to-one sessions):

  • Referencing
  • Paraphrasing
  • Critical Writing
  • Assignment Planning and Structuring

Pastoral and Coaching (One-to-one sessions):

  • Time Management
  • Confidence Building
  • Motivation
  • Goal Setting

In addition, we can support students with information on University Policies and Procedures, including:

  • Extensions
  • Mitigating Circumstances
  • Appeals
  • Complaints
  • Student Pregnancy and Maternity

The Student Liaison Officers are also the Dignity at Study Policy coordinators. Dignity at Study is the University policy and procedure in relation to:

  • Harassment
  • Bullying
  • Victimisation
  • Discrimination
  • Sexual Misconduct

The Student Liaison Officers can signpost students to academic study skills, including those on LEAP Live and Leap Online.

The Student Liaisons Officers can support students with complex issues that a Student Advisor may be unable to resolve. They will take ownership of such cases and liaise with academic colleagues and other professional support services, such as:

  • Disability Service
  • Life Lounge (Student Mental Health and Wellbeing)
  • International Student Support Team
  • Finance and Funding Advice
  • Invoicing Team
  • Standards and Enhancement Office

Who are we, and how can you meet with us?

The Student Liaison Officers work from the Student Centre, Chancellors Mall, and some Schools and Faculties. They offer a service in person and online via drop-ins (no appointment needed).
