The Postgraduate High Achievement Award 2021/22

 

The Postgraduate High Achievement Award will be awarded to four full-time UK, EU or International Masters students, irrespective of their financial means, who progress to a University of Bolton Taught Masters Course.

There will be a maximum of four awards made in the 2021/22 academic year (2 for September 2021 and 2 for January 2022) and applications will be considered in strict date order of receipt.

This award is to be paid as a full tuition fee waiver.

Eligibility for the Award

In order to apply you will need to demonstrate that:

- You have successfully been awarded a First-Class Honours degree from a UK or EU institution.

- You must be studying a full-time 180 credit Masters (taught) MA or MSc course on the University of Bolton campus. PGCE/Cert Ed courses and masters courses that qualify for undergraduate funding are not eligible courses for this award.

- You must not be in receipt of any other kind of sponsorship towards your tuition fees for example from an employer.

- You must not be in receipt of any other award from the University.

- The course of study must have commenced in September 2021 or January 2022.

- You must be willing to be an active ambassador for the University of Bolton.

Please note that even though you may fulfil the eligibility for the Award this does not guarantee you will receive one due to the restricted number of awards available.

Applying for the Award

In order to receive this award as a full fee waiver students must have completed an application form. The form for the Award will be available in the Student Centre, Chancellor’s Mall or can be printed from here.

Applications must include a personal statement, no longer than 500 words, outlining why you would be appropriate to receive the award and how you can support the University of Bolton as an ambassador.

The completed application with the personal statement and photocopies of certificates to show the achievement of the First-Class Honours Degree can be submitted the Student Centre, emailed to studentfunding@bolton.ac.uk or posted to:

Notification of Award 

Students will be notified whether their application has been successful or not via their university email address.

The Student Funding Team will confirm the details of eligible students with the Invoicing team, who will adjust the invoices accordingly.

If you defer entry onto your course of study you will need to re-apply for the Postgraduate High Achievement Award before commencement of your studies.

Awards will not be paid to students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time ‘sandwich’ basis. Students studying abroad also will not be eligible to receive the Award.

٭Please note the deadline for applications for courses commencing September 2021 is 30 October 2021.

٭Please note the deadline for applications for courses commencing January 2022 is 26 February 2022.

*The High Achievement Award will be paid for first Taught Masters courses only, not second or subsequent courses.

Payments will be permanently terminated if the student withdraws, transfers to another institution, fails their programme of study, or interrupts or suspends their studies.

*Please note that meeting the essential criteria does not equate to an entitlement to an Award.

Payment of the award is made entirely at the discretion of the university.
