PGCE Part-Time Funding 2022/23

 

2022/23 Funding Information for Part Time Post Graduate Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 7), Professional Graduate Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 6) and Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 5) courses This information sheet provides details of the financial arrangements for those intending to begin one of the above courses at the University of Bolton in the 2022/23 academic year.

There may be additional support available from the government for students who are studying PGCE courses in certain subject areas. Please visit https://www.gov.uk/teacher-training-funding or contact your course leader to find further information.

For PGCE in Mathematics, students must have previously attained a degree qualification of a minimum of 2.2 level. The bursary is £26,000, paid over the duration of the course.

For PGCE in English, students must have previously attained a degree qualification of a minimum of 2.1 level. The bursary is £12,000 paid over the duration of the course.

Financial Assistance

- Maintenance loans

Additional support: There may be additional support available from the government for students who are studying PGCE courses in certain subject areas. Please note the information above is subject to confirmation from the Department for Education.

Tuition fees for the above courses are up to £4,500 per academic year (subject to confirmation)*

*Fees, if studied at University of Bolton, will be £4,500, if studied at franchised provision fees may vary depending at which franchise college you are studying.

Please note tuition fees may be higher for the second year of the course.

If you wish to defer payment of your tuition fees until after the completion of your course you may apply to take out a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of the course. If you choose this option the tuition fees will be paid directly from the Student Loans Company to the university. You will start to repay this loan after the completion of your course and when you are earning over £27,295. Tuition fee loans are non-means tested.

For courses commencing from 2022/23, there may be maintenance loans available for some teacher training courses. According to the latest information from the government, eligible courses are the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Level 7) and the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (Level 6)

The following may be available for students commencing on an eligible part-time course from September 2019 onwards:

A student maintenance loan of up to £9,706 may be available for part-time students studying at the University of Bolton who are not living with their parents. The maximum loan amount for students who are living at home with their parents is £8,171. The actual amount of loan available will depend upon the intensity of study and household income assessment carried out by Student Finance England.

Please note students must be aged under 60 on the first day of the first academic year of the course in order to be eligible for part-time maintenance loans.
