PGCE Full-Time Funding 2022/23

 

2022/23 Funding Information for Full Time Post Graduate Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 7), Professional Graduate Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 6) and Certificate in Education 14+ (Level 5) courses provided by University of Bolton.

Tuition fees for the above courses if studied on the University of Bolton campus are £9,250 Please note if you are studying your course at a franchise institution the tuition fees may vary from the above figure.

Student Maintenance Loan

  • A student maintenance loan of up to £9,706 may be available for full-time students studying at the University of Bolton who are not living with their parents. The maximum loan amount for students who are living at home with their parents is £8,171.
  • For students in receipt of certain benefits, the maximum loan may be increased.
  • Maintenance loans for students aged 60 or over may be available up to a maximum of £4,106.
  • Maintenance loans are partially subject to household income assessment.

Childcare Grant

For full-time students with dependent children in registered and approved childcare. A payment of up to 85% of the actual childcare costs is available. This award is dependent on household income, maximum payment £183.75 per week for one child, £315.03 per week for two or more children.

For full-time students who have dependent children. This award is dependent on household income, maximum award £1,863.

For full-time students who have adult dependents. This award is dependent on household income, maximum award £3,263.

If you wish to defer payment of your tuition fees until after the completion of your course you may apply to take out a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of the course. If you choose this option the tuition fees will be paid directly from the Student Loans Company to the university. You will start to repay this loan after the completion of your course and when you are earning over £27,295. Tuition fee loans are non-means tested.

There may be additional support available from the government for students who are studying PGCE courses in certain subject areas. Please visit https://www.gov.uk/teacher-training-funding or contact your course leader to find further information.

For PGCE in Mathematics, students must have previously attained a degree qualification of a minimum of 2.2 level. The bursary is £25,000, paid over the duration of the course.

For PGCE in English, students must have previously attained a degree qualification of a minimum of 2.1 level. The bursary is £15,000, paid over the duration of the course.

The above funding is not available for any of the above courses for students who have previously attained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Initial Teacher Training courses are exempt from Equivalent Level Qualifications regulations at www.hefce.ac.uk
