Scott Whitfield

Associate Lecturer in Psychology

I studied a BSc in Sport Psychology at Liverpool Hope University before later completing the MSc in Sport Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University. I am currently on the Professional Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University working toward chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Alongside my studies I have experience working to support individuals with varying mental illnesses ranging from eating disorders, psychosis and personality disorders. On top of my lecturing position, I currently work for Lancashire Country Cricket Club providing psychological support to the Academy and Emerging Players Programme squads as well as offering private consultancy to athletes and teams at varying levels and sports.

My research interests surround the use of sport as a vehicle to promote youth development, striving to understand and implement methods to facilitate the development of young individuals as both people and athletes.
