I am currently a lecturer on the MA Social Work programme and I am involved in supporting the development of the BA (Hons) Social Work programme, the BA (Hons) Social Work Degree Apprenticeship and the Social Work Centre.
I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Social Work Studies and an MSc in Applied Mental Health. I am currently working towards my professional doctorate in social work focusing on the impact of personalisation on recovery.
I am a registered qualified social worker with additional qualifications as an approved mental health professional and best interest’s assessor. I am also a Practice Educator. My employment background is mainly in adult mental health. I was formally a Team Manager of a Community Mental Health Team. I have also worked with young people not in employment, education or training as part of an inter-disciplinary outreach team. I have previously delivered teaching on the areas of adult safeguarding, the Mental Health Act, the Care Act and undertaking risk assessments.
My research interests include the impact of personalisation and personal budgets on recovery in mental health; mixed methods research and the role of social work in integrated team settings.
Main teaching activities are on the MA Social Work Programme, BA (Hons) Social Work programme, the BA (Hons) Social Work Degree Apprenticeship and the Social Work Centre.
