Ben Thompson

Lecturer - Animation and Illustration

Having achieved a first-class honours degree in Illustration with Animation (MMU) in 2008, Ben continued his development and engagement with art and design, going on to complete an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art, specializing in experimental filmmaking and animation as performance.

His works in collage and film/video have been displayed around the world at festivals, exhibitions, in publications and on TV, through platforms such as the Pyeong Chang Biennale, Holland Animation Film Festival and the BBC. Ben has also collaborated with a number of institutions to deliver workshops, events and lectures, including at the National Institute of Design, the British Museum, the RCA and Frieze Art Fair.

Since joining the Animation and Illustration team in 2016, it has been Ben’s mission to further expand student’s areas of research and the methodologies through which they realize their work, introducing modules in experimental animation, sequential art, print and bookmaking.
