Lindsay Banks

Course co-ordinator and Lecturer for Fashion

On completion of her BA (Hons) Fashion, Lindsay worked for over 15 years within the fashion industry. Working for both the supplier and retailer for supply to high street and selected brands. She worked as a designer and pattern cutter for Mountain Equipment, Zara, Topshop, Marks and Spencer and as a CAD Application specialist at Lectra. Working in several areas from outerwear clothing, denim and casual wear to swimwear Lindsay worked with a variety of brands and companies developing vital skills and knowledge in order to be both professional and an expert in her field.

In 2006 her menswear swimwear label ‘Bluhe’ was setup together with a financial partner. As design director of garment and web design, palette/trend direction and liaising with print designers for collections she added new skills to her portfolio. Lindsay also worked freelance at several companies including a sustainable brand Phannatiq.

Her Teaching career began in Further Education where she contributed in sharing her knowledge in Design and garment construction, course leading several courses in both Further and Higher Education. Alongside this Lindsay worked for over 5 years as the lead tutor for the Fashion Awareness Direct (FAD) charity offering opportunities to students to produce garments for a catwalk show at London Fashion Week. In 2016 she taught and was a year leader at London College of fashion for 3 years, achieving her fellowship status before moving to the University of Bolton to contribute her experience in both the fashion industry and teaching to our Fashion courses.
