I am a Geotechnical and Educational Consultant with over 25 years’ experience working with the university’s Overseas Division on the management and delivery of partnership programmes in China. I am an internationally recognised expert in the teaching of Geotechnical Engineering and my textbook, Smith’s Elements of Soil Mechanics, 9th Edition, is adopted by all UK universities’ Civil Engineering departments as well as by many overseas. I am a visiting professor at three universities in China and have taught students at universities in the UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Qatar, Hong Kong, Myanmar as well as in mainland China.
