I started my Nurse training in 1986 at the Royal Bolton Hospital, initially working on a General and Facio-Maxillo Surgical ward and subsequently as a Practice Nurse in a GP surgery before changing to Midwifery and Health Visiting roles. I have worked for several years as a Team Midwife working in community and hospital, providing continuity of care. I gained experience as a deputy team leader and then as a core midwife on delivery suite.
Since working as a Lecturer Practitioner at Bolton University I have subsequently worked in education and research roles at various universities including Manchester Metropolitan, Sheffield (ScHARR), Salford University, the University of Manchester, and since September 2018 returning as a Senior Lecturer and Lead Midwife for Education at the University of Bolton to develop new provision in terms of Midwifery programmes.
