A smart-looking Dalek is sure to turn heads at a UCAS ‘Create Your Future Show’ in Manchester – thanks to students and staff at the University of Bolton.

The Doctor’s most persistent alien enemy, which was built by staff and students on the SFX Modelmaking for Film and Television course, will be sporting a new look at the University of Bolton stand on Tuesday and Wednesday 22 and 23 November,

Programme leader Jim Costello, helped by students Marley John and Milly Howard, along with Master’s graduate Lawrie Yates, have painted the Time Lord’s famous foe in blue and gold, the University of Bolton colours.

The two-day event at Manchester Central will showcase hundreds of creative courses, apprenticeships, and careers in design, music, and the performing arts.

Visitors will be able to speak to course experts and explore hundreds of course options, watch live performances by current students, get involved in creative workshops, take part in student talks and live Q&As with industry experts – and, of course, get up close and personal with the University of Bolton full-scale replica Dalek.

Jim said: “The Dalek has been red and silver for quite a while, so we decided to give it a fresh look, with a new paint job for this special event. And what better colours than blue and gold, which are the University’s official colours!

“We think it looks very smart – it would be very interesting to see what the latest Doctor makes of the Dalek’s new look!”
