As a qualified Solicitor Advocate, I have many years of experience in the legal sector. These real-life legal skills help me to ensure that the university’s law programmes, cover the theoretical knowledge needed to succeed in the law but with a practical edge. This approach helps our students to place the theory from books and journals into everyday legal situations and helps to ensure that our successful law graduates can quickly adapt to working in legal settings.
In addition, as a qualified Solicitor, I have responsibility for supervising the University Pro-Bono scheme. This scheme provides learners with the chance to engage in a range of ongoing activities all designed to improve your knowledge of the law and your practical skills.
Terry is a current masters student training to become a qualified solicitor. Terry has worked at the Legal Advice Centre for around 18 months dealing with matters such as family, education and housing. Through vast amounts of life experience, they have a keen interest in family law and supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Due to their willingness to go the extra mile in not only their studies but also supporting clients, Terry was nominated for the Law Works and Attorney General Student Pro-Bono Awards – Best Contributions by an individual in 2022. After being shortlisted, they were invited by Lord Low of Dalston to the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace, at the House of Lords.
