Live Literature returns in University and Library & Museums partnership

The University of Bolton’s English and Creative Writing department are proud to again partner with Bolton Library and Museum Services for a new season of exciting live literature events this Spring.

The first event of the new season is Tuesday 11 February where Rosie Garland will be reading from her latest novel The Night Brother. Garland will also talk to Valerie O’Riordan about this “dazzling and provocative tale of adventure and belonging”.

On Tuesday 17 March, our English lecturer Evan Jones will launch his highly anticipated second volume of poetry, Later Emperors. Carcanet Press Editor Professor Michael Schmidt will host the evening. Jones will read from his new book, already praised by POETRY magazine editor Don Share as the work of “a deeply distinctive literary wit.”

The season concludes on 21 April with a look into Alison Down’ and John Graham Davies’ new collaborative work: Doris which focuses on the eponymous Leeds millworkers and champion swimmer. The event will give insight into the scriptwriting process, as well as the need to tell inspiring stories of working-class lives.
