Our Library Catalogue lists all the items (books, journals, DVDs & theses, newspapers, conference proceedings, videos and CDs) that are available in the Library. You can access the Library Catalogue directly by using the link on the right hand side of the screen. To help you in getting started searching the Library Catalogue we have prepared a quick start guide:
Library Catalogue - My Account
You can access your Library borrower account via the Library Catalogue from both on and off campus. You will need to log into your account in order to:
- Check when your items are due for return
- Renew your items
- Make reservations
- See if your reservations are ready for collection
- Check if you have any outstanding fines
- Save lists of items

Item not in stock?
Can't find what you are looking for on our Library Catalogue? Then try this list of other options.
It might be worth checking other nearby universities to see if the they stock the item. You may be able to use the SCONUL Access scheme
to use the item for reference in the library or borrow the item (depending on your SCONUL Access rights)
You could also check local public libraries such as Bolton, Manchester, Salford and Lancashire.
You can always use the Inter-Library Loans service where we will apply to the British Library for the item for a small fee. For further details please see the Inter-Library Loans service web page.
If your item is on a reading list and not stocked by the Library, please speak to the staff at the Subject Help Desk for advice.

In addition to staff at the Library Desk there are Roving Assistants available in the Library to help with any queries. They can show you how to use the Library Catalogue, Self Service machines and how the shelving system is arranged as well as pointing you in the direction of all our services.
If the item you require is on loan you can always speak to a member of the staff at the Help Desk. The staff can see if the item is available as an e-book or suggest an alternative title if possible.

Book Purchase Suggestion Scheme
If you have any recommendations for new titles you think we should buy for the library, please complete the Book Purchase Suggestions form. Purchase will be dependent upon their relevance, and the availability of funds.
