Bolton Health and Social Care Community Access scheme is an initiative by HELP@Bolton to provide library access to the University of Bolton. The scheme enables all members of the Bolton Health and Social Care Community to use the facilities available in the Library at The University of Bolton.

The Library will provide:

  • Access to all printed materials for reference
  • Borrowing of up to 5 standard loan items  
  • Photocopying facilities
  • Study space

Access to computing software, electronic resources and group study rooms is not available. Bolton Health and Social Care members who experience difficulty accessing the Library during staffed hours on Saturdays should contact the Library Desk on 01204 903094 to arrange access to the building.

Users should fill in an application form and take it to their home library for endorsement. As the home library is ultimately responsible for any losses caused by their users, only users who are registered and in good standing with their home library will have their applications approved. If you do not have a home library to endorse your application, you may still apply for membership under the scheme, but please be aware that there may be delays in processing your application, so eligibility checks can be made.

Endorsed forms can be exchanged for a membership card at the Library Desk but your application cannot be processed during busy periods such as lunch hours and the start of the academic year. Membership is granted for the duration of the academic year but if you still meet the criteria for membership on expiry of your card it can be extended upon proof of entitlement and current address.

Members are subject to the Library rules and regulations, and are responsible for any fines or replacement costs incurred. Your card can be withdrawn if you infringe these rules.
