Foundation / Access

  • Senior Certificate (with matriculation) with less than BBBCC at higher level  
  • National Senior Certificate (from Nov 2008) with less than an average of Grade 5 rating

Undergraduate first year entry

  • Senior Certificate (with matriculation) with at least BBBCC grades at higher level  
  • National Senior Certificate (from Nov 2008) with an average of Grade 5 rating   
  • International Baccalaureate diploma - 28 points or more to be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses

Second and Third year entry

  • Entry to Year 2 is possible for students who have completed two years of a relevant degree in South Africa   
  • Entry to Year 3 (‘top-up’) is possible for students who have completed three years of a relevant degree in South Africa  Postgraduate    

Postgraduate Diploma / Masters Degree / MBA courses

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science (Hons) from a recognised university in South Africa

PhD / Post doctorate

  • Masters degree from a recognised university in South Africa

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE ASSESSED FOR ENTRY ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.

English Language

  • Foundation programmes range from IELTS 5.0 to IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent)
  • Undergraduate programmes - IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent recognised English Language test) or Grades A – C in O-level, A level or IB
  • Postgraduate programmes - normally IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent recognised English Language test)

If you do not meet the English language entry requirements, you can undertake a pre-sessional English language programme.

The Africa Branch Office (AFBO) is responsible for each country within Africa. The University of Bolton advises all African applicants to utilise the service of this Branch Office to ensure a speedy response to enquiries and a quick turnaround of your admission.

The staff will be the first and only point of contact for all African Applicants and will manage the entire admission’s process from application to enrolment.
