Our main campus is housed on Deane Road in the centre of Bolton. Campus life offers you a bright range of facilities – not only for learning and for supporting you though your studies – but also for making new friends and exercising your body as well as your mind!


Orlando Village provides private bedrooms with a shared kitchen, bathroom, and dining area. The accommodation also has full internet access, laundry rooms, round-the-clock security and parking. It is ten minutes’ walk away from our campus and is close to both road and rail links. This picture shows what a typical student bedroom may look like. For private accommodation, our Student Advisors and the Students’ Union Office can advise you of how to search for private accommodation and what to look for when entering in to a contract with a private landlord. There are many properties available within the Bolton area which range from private houses to private halls of residences. Organising private accommodation would mean contacting the landlord of the property to make arrangements. Looking for a bite between classes? Then there is no reason to leave the campus at the University of Bolton has a variety of choices for hungry students. There are several social spaces to meet with friends. Whether it be a chilled-out drink and cake at the Athena café (serving Costa Coffee), a full hot meal (from just £2.10) at our Eagle Restaurant or the bar-style menu of the Vista Meet and Eat – we have you covered! You always have the option to grab a quick sandwich from our Student Union Shop as well. The campus is also surrounded by a variety of food outlets, from major supermarkets and fast-food chains to the smaller market stalls, all within five minutes from campus.


The university caters to all major religions on campus through our thriving Chaplaincy. Bolton is a large town and the university campus is right in the heart of the town. There are many places of worship close by including churches; mosques and temples. There is also a quiet room, prayer room and resource area. International Society

The International Society at the University of Bolton aims to bring Bolton’s international students and interested UK students together in a social and recreational environment. It’s open to everyone at the university, including staff and people in the wider community who are associated with the university in one way or another. It’s a great way of making new friends and seeing more of the North of England and the rest of the UK.


The weather in Bolton is changeable!

Summer months can be sunny and warm (25º C/77º F). However throughout the Spring, Autumn and Winter you should be prepared for rain – though not every day of course! Winter can be quite cold (0º C/32º F). You’ll need a warm jacket or coat, hat, scarf and gloves. Bolton winters are not very harsh but it is chilly, and it is good to be prepared with jumpers and a fleece. A waterproof jacket or raincoat is essential for those days when there is rain but it’s not so cold.


Bolton has excellent travel links. There are frequent buses to the immediate area as well as into Manchester, Salford and to the Trafford Centre Shopping Mall. The town’s train station has regular services to locations across the region and connections to rail links for the rest of the UK. It’s just a 20-minute train journey to Manchester’s Piccadilly and Victoria stations and only 40 minutes to Manchester International Airport. A train to London will take around 2.5 hours
