Who are we?

The Life Lounge is a new Student Services initiative that opened in September, 2015. The Life Lounge brings together specialist services, free for students to access including:

  • Counselling
  • Student Liaison Officers (SLOs)
  • CBT Clinic
  • Study Skills
  • Nurse Advisor Clinic

What do we do?

The Life Lounge also offers students a quiet place to go to relax away from other distractions on campus. Feel free to come and take a seat in the Waiting Area whenever you need some quiet time. Specialist External Partners will utilise the Life Lounge and compliment the support for students on offer.

The University has a fully qualified part-time Counsellor for students and this service is completely free and confidential. The service has a good understanding the particular problems facing todays students. This service is particularly useful for students wanting short term support, to speak to someone who is not involved in their personal life or academic work.

Student Liaison Officers (SLOs)

There are two Student Liaison Officers providing:

  • Impartial Information, Advice and Guidance on a wide range of both Academic and Pastoral Issues,
  • Support and Opportunities to develop transferable skills
  • ‘Bite Size’ Study Skill Sessions throughout the academic year to help students succeed academically, examples of sessions include referencing, report writing, critical thinking, essay structuring and planning.

They can also signpost to other key services as necessary.
