Photography
Monday 17 / Tuesday 18 June

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to produce studio portraits within our professional photographic studios using DLSR cameras. During the afternoon session, you will have an opportunity to convert the digital images into Cyanotypes (a vintage process), a technique originally used for the production of engineering blueprints which has been used widely by contemporary photographers and artists.

Animation and Illustration: Passions and Joy Zine
Tuesday 18 / Wednesday 19 / Thursday 20 June

Students are invited to produce a group ‘Zine’ where the themes of ‘passions’ and ‘joy’ are explored. Thinking personally of what your individual passions are, which could include a band or a particular piece of music, a favourite lm, food, a person/people, a location/place or object etc, everything you passionately like or give you joy. Using mixed media you will create images and illustrate these passions.  You will place them all together to produce one ‘Zine’ which will be printed out and take home a copy.

Fashion | Textiles and Surface Design: Form, Colour, Pattern

FORM
Tuesday 18 June

You will have the opportunity to engage in practical activities that will encourage you to explore colour, shape, form, proportion and scale. You will explore fashion both two and three dimensionally. Sculptural experiments on the mannequin will inform a series of fashion drawings that employ a range of media to communicate structure and form.

COLOUR
Wednesday 19 June

You will explore the use of colour, through trend analysis and colouration of cloth. You will explore the traditional technique of Shibori, an ancient Japanese dye technique. Shibori is known to be one of the oldest Indigo dyeing techniques in Japan, most popular in the early Edo period. You will produce a range of textile samples creating both geometric and organic surface patterns, from a variety of folding, twisting, knotting and rolling techniques.

PATTERN
Thursday 20 June

Explore layered screen prints for fashion and interior fabrics within this experimental print workshop, using forecasted trends for spring/summer 2020. You will bond fabrics and overprint with a variety of print pastes; this will be followed by a digital workshop, creating portfolio visualisations for fashion or interiors.

HOW TO INTERVIEW FOR DOCUMENTARIES
Tuesday 18 June

In this fun and informative interactive workshop, you will learn the key do’s and don’ts of conducting in-camera interviews with members of the public, professionals and even celebrities, the difference between open and closed questions, the use of gestures and body language to engage with the interviewee and how to prepare thorough research around the subject of the documentary. You will be given practical tips on how to address a crew while conducting interviews and framing classic interview shot sizes.

FILM DIRECTING
Wednesday 19 June

In this workshop, you will be learning about how professionals direct a scene for a film. You will go through the planning of a scene, how to select shots, how to do a storyboard. You will then learn how to rehearse the scene and finally, you will shoot the scene on set, using the cameras. We will look at professional examples and explore different types of professional equipment. We will also share creative thoughts and ideas about how to engage an audience.

CAMERA AND LIGHTING
Thursday 20 June

In this workshop, you will learn about the relationship between camera composition and lighting, how one impacts on the other and vice versa as well as the relationship between a director and a director of photography in making those creative choices.  Green screen filming may be a part of it depending on time.

Graphic Design: Conceptual Blending in Advertising and Ideation
Tuesday 18 / Wednesday 19 / Thursday 20 June

This workshop will explore how disparate elements can come together to form a new concept. Under guided supervision, participants will explore how new ideas can be created with existing elements and the role imagination, play and fun, has in creativity. The work created will then be critiqued by the group and a digital copy of the hand-rendered images will be available to take away.

We consider our students to be our greatest assets

They never cease to amaze us with their originality, imagination and belief in the transformational power of the Arts. The School’s principal goal is to inspire and facilitate intellectual and creative self-discovery and I’m sure you will agree that the Creative Show 2018 demonstrates how this aim is being fulfilled in a myriad of ways! Thank you for joining us to celebrate our students’ achievements!
