Centre for Islamic Finance – London Insurance Market
19 November, 2019 @ 17:00
The Centre for Islamic Finance at the University of Bolton is delighted to invite you to a lecture on the London insurance market: Delivering cover for Islamic risks.
The lecture will be presented by Clare Lebecq, CEO of the London Market Group and Jon Guy, Secretary General of the Islamic Insurance Association of London.
For more than 300 years, London has been the global hub for the insurance sector. Building upon its innovative history, the market in recent years has been working to examine how it can meet the needs of the international Islamic business community by providing sharia-compliant insurance products.
Clare Lebecq, CEO of the London Market Group and Jon Guy, Secretary General of the Islamic Insurance Association of London will explain the current thinking and approach of the London market; and why Islamic Insurance has been identified as one of the core areas for progress for the year ahead.
The London market is already underway with its ambitious plans to deliver fundamental change, with technology enabling quicker access to underwrite capacity and drive down business costs.
Clare and Jon will explain why London is a natural home for Islamic risks and highlight the work already being done to engage with Islamic nations globally to enhance the ability for clients to access sharia products. They will also explain how London has become the only international insurance centre outside of the Islamic world to have clear and agreed guidelines for the transaction of sharia-compliant insurance and reinsurance across the market.
The lecture will take place on 19 November 2019 at 17:00, Centre for Islamic Finance, University of Bolton, Deane Road, Bolton, BL3 5AB
