Rapid changes in the global political, economic, social and technological environments are affecting education. If you’re a teacher, lecturer, government official, or other education professional interested in the development of educational strategies and policies, then this master’s degree is ideal. Our expert team will help you learn to evaluate your own leadership practice, and develop innovative solutions for improvement considering local, national and global contextual influences.
Mode of Study:
University of Bolton
Education is a global industry. It’s critical to the economic success of every nation and the personal empowerment of every individual. Aimed at existing education professionals, this contemporary and stimulating programme of study provides opportunities to explore developments in educational leadership from a global perspective. You’ll study the key theories and models underpinning global educational leadership and consider the implications of this knowledge for your own practice.
The demands of educational leadership are evolving rapidly in response to changes in the global political, economic, social and technological environments. We aim to help you understand these challenges, and develop the leadership skills needed to address them. We’ll support you to develop effective mentoring strategies and learn how to lead learning communities. As well as reflecting on your own professional practice, we’ll encourage and guide you in formulating creative solutions to complex educational problems.
Our highly experienced and research active team will support you as you develop critical thinking and research evaluation skills and apply these during your independent master’s-level project. You’ll also have the chance to develop enhanced key skills in line with your personal and professional development needs; for instance, team working and leadership, problem solving, autonomy, and professional accountability in relation to your educational leadership.
Where changes are made to material information contained in this course description or a decision is taken to suspend a course between the offer of admissions and enrolment, we will inform applicants at the earliest possible opportunity and will outline the various options available to the applicant.
As a graduate of our MA Global Educational Leadership programme, you’ll possess a systematic knowledge, understanding and critical awareness of strategies and developments in leadership practice for the national and international education sector. We’ll prepare and encourage you to act as a change agent ready to expand the outlook of the educational practitioners in your organisation and examine educational leadership from a global perspective.
After successfully completing this course, you’ll also possess a number of career enhancing skills in addition to your subject specific knowledge and understanding. These include interpersonal skills, research skills, oral and written presentation skills, independent work and organisation and management skills. These transferable skills are highly valued in a number of education related professional roles.
There are numerous private, public and charitable organisations that specialise in international, cultural and educational issues; for instance, the British Council. A variety of job roles exist within these organisations and a master’s qualification is likely to be well received.
Possession of a master's degree is also likely to be advantageous if you’re seeking positions in universities and colleges, and could support your progression to leadership and management roles. Roles exist in educational administration departments such as admissions, international recruitment, quality assurance, data management and marketing.
Graduates can also use the qualification as a stepping-stone to enter a range of other careers, and for some of these roles, both relevant experience and/or postgraduate study may be required. Some of these careers include:
