Faqs

Clearing is for students who have not yet received a place at university. This could be for a number of reasons – you may be applying through UCAS after the 30th June; you might be having a change of heart about your university choice or you may not have been able to meet the conditions of your original offer, as your results may not be as good you’d have hoped.
· Your UCAS number (if you've applied through UCAS)
· A list of your qualifications (including GCSEs)
· Pen and paper
Yes – we will need your permission to do this though so please be available to jump on the phone for a minute to give permission.
After speaking with a member of the Clearing Team you may receive a verbal offer or an offer in principle of a place on a course – this cannot be made official until a formal application has been made. Please follow the instructions on how to apply on the emails that follow your call.
Freshers’ week is called Welcome Week at Bolton and will be in mid-September after enrolment. We’ll send out information about Welcome week in August. This is organised by the Students’ Union and has both daytime and evening events.
If you have qualifications to send into us please email copies of them to UGqualifications@bolton.ac.uk – this is the quickest way to get them to us, if you can’t email them then you can either bring them into the Student Centre, or post them to:

Please do not post originals.
If you have already made an application through UCAS for this current academic year and are applying for a full-time undergraduate course then yes, you will need to refer yourself through UCAS Myapplication. If you have not yet applied through UCAS in this cycle then you can apply to the University direct via our website. We will send all this information to you following our call.
Unfortunately, we can’t help with this – you will need to contact UCAS directly to sort this out.
You can only apply to one university for one course at once through Clearing, to save time you will need to check that your course of choice is available through Clearing at your chosen university.
After you refer through UCAS Myapplication we can then start processing your application. Please check your emails and Myapplication for any updates. You’ll also receive emails from us letting you know about what’s happening at the University, what you need to be doing, and extra information about your course of choice. If you are applying direct we will send you a formal offer and proceed to enrolment invitation straightaway.
We’ll send enrolment instructions out from early-August, so please keep checking your inbox and junk mail folder for these.
Yes, of course, you can! All the Programme Leaders’ contact details are available online on the right-hand side of the course pages. There will also be a tutor available from each subject area at each of the Study Advice Sessions. The best option is to call us on 01204 903030 and we can help you there and then.
